The recently announced Green Press Initiative membership program provides benefits and resources for individuals and companies interested in reducing the social and environmental impacts of the Book Industry. Joining Green Press Initiative is a simple way to demonstrate your environmental commitment, gain access to valuable tools and resources, and support the efforts of a pioneering organization. The Green Press Initiative (GPI) provides its members with the expertise and resources to design, implement and evaluate successful, socially responsible business policies and practices.
Member Benefits: In addition to supporting efforts of the Green Press Initiative to promote an industry-wide transition towards more socially and environmentally responsible practices, member companies receive the following:
• Use of the Green Press Initiative Logo (for Treatise signatories, companies with an environmental policy, commitment to develop one, or demonstrable environmental leadership) • Consulting and Employee Training (Policy development consultation and basic and/or in depth training) • Research and Tools (Free Environmental Trends and Climate Impacts and future paid reports, endangered forest risk assessment,) • Networking Opportunities (through participation at annual GPI-coordinated industry event) • Discounts on Industry Events (Publishing Conference & Expo and others) • Environmental Calculations and Analysis (annual environmental savings, carbon footprint calculations) Who is Eligible?
Publishers and Suppliers Member publishers and suppliers must have an environmental policy in place or in process, or be willing to develop a policy that reflects the key components of the Treatise on Environmentally Responsible Publishing. Preferably, all member publishers and suppliers will sign the Treatise. GPI supporting organizations (nonprofits, trade associations and other companies) Supporting organizations must demonstrate compatibility with GPI goals. If the organization itself publishes, then the guidelines for publishers and suppliers also apply. Preferably all supporting organizations will sign the Treatise. Dues: Membership dues are based on a sliding scale according to a company’s gross annual revenue as outlined below:
